The Silver King Earns Its Name in the Air
Tarpon anglers call them Silver King for the jump, not just the size. A hooked tarpon throws itself clear of the water again and again, shaking its head hard enough to throw the hook, and a big one can run a spool down to backing before it ever comes boatside. Along much of its range it also goes by sabalo. Atlantic Tarpon can top 150 pounds and eight feet, a genuine trophy by any measure.
Cast From the Real Fish
Every Tarpon replica starts as a casting pulled from a first-generation mold taken off an actual fish, which is what carries the large silver scales, the forked tail, and the trailing dorsal filament into the fiberglass instead of approximating them. Greg Cassell hand-sculpts the mouth and sets each glass eye by hand in sculpting epoxy after painting the iris to match your photo.
A Fiberglass Reproduction Outlasts a Tarpon Skin Mount
Unlike traditional fish taxidermy, a fiberglass reproduction holds its color permanently instead of fading, shrinking, or curling at the fin edges the way a mounted tarpon skin does as it dries out. Greg builds the blue-green dorsal shading and silver flank in multiple automotive-grade airbrush stages, then seals the whole mount under a UV-resistant urethane clear coat, the same class of finish used on a show car.
You Cannot Legally Keep a Tarpon, and You Do Not Need To
Florida tarpon are catch-and-release only. Keeping one legally requires a $50 harvest tag issued solely for a shot at a world record, so in practice almost no angler keeps a tarpon to mount it. A fiberglass release mount is the only lawful way to put your Tarpon on the wall. Release the fish, send the photo, and Greg builds the replica from your picture and your length.

No photo, no problem. Before the clear coat goes on, we email high-resolution photos of the finished paintwork for your approval.

Shipping is invoiced separately once your mount is crated and exact dimensions are confirmed. Every mount is built to order in the USA and ships nationwide by UPS Ground, with larger mounts traveling in custom-built wooden crates.

Full Wall Mount is the two-sided, double-sided build at $17 per inch, starting at $323, with both sides painted and a heavy-duty metal hanging bracket. 360° Mount is the full reproduction at $20 per inch, starting at $380. It hangs from a ceiling on included suspension hardware, sits flat on a table, mantle, or shelf, and works as the base for pedestal builds. Rates step up above 64 inches, so a longer Tarpon costs more per inch, not just more overall.
